The Lexington Public School District is responsible for locating, evaluating, and identifying children with disabilities who live within the district boundaries.
All eligible children with disabilities beginning at age three (3), who are residents of the Lexington Public School District, have a right to a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) as mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA). The specific special education and related services for eligible children ages 3-21 will be determined by the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team members based on that particular child's unique needs.
If you have a preschool-aged child or you are a parent of a child attending a private school, and you suspect your child may have a disability or is exhibiting delays in his/her development, and you are a resident of the Lexington Public School District, please contact Special Services at 405 - 527- 7236.
If your child is already enrolled and is attending one of the Lexington Public School District's sites, then please speak with your child's teacher or school counselor about your concerns regarding your child's development, or that you suspect your child may have a disability.
